Dr Ravi Zacharias
We regret that due to a recently discovered need for major back surgery Ravi Zacharias is unable to speak at our Oxford Summer in 2008. The surgery is scheduled for May and is followed by a 6 month recovery period during which he is unable to travel.

Professor Gary Habermas (see below) has kindly agreed to speak in his place.

Michael Ramsden has been European Director of RZIM Zacharias Trust since its foundation in 1997. He is also Joint Director of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics and Lecturer in Christian Apologetics at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. Michael was brought up in the Middle East and later moved to England where he worked for the Lord Chancellor’s department investing funds. While doing research at Sheffield University, he taught Moral Philosophy and lectured for the International Seminar on Jurisprudence and Human Rights in Strasbourg. Michael speaks to a wide variety of audiences worldwide and is involved in a number of initiatives to equip and train emerging leaders and evangelists throughout Europe. He has contributed to the book Preach the Word! and has written a series of articles for Idea magazine, giving an evangelical response to some of today’s most challenging issues. He is married to Anne and they live in Oxford with their three children.

Frog Orr-Ewing
Frog (Francis) Orr-Ewing was appointed Vicar of All Saints Church, Peckham (inner city London) in 2002. At that time he was the youngest incumbent in the Church of England. Since then the congregation has experienced rapid growth through conversion amongst urban youth, children and adults. The church now impacts hundreds of young people every week in Peckham through small groups, mentoring, clubs and schools work. Frog led an outreach mission called ‘God Loves Peckham’ in the summer of 2006, where he and his team had the privilege of seeing over 100 people come to know Christ. He became a Christian himself as a teenager, and went on to study theology. He then worked in London before getting ordained and spent three years in Oxford as curate at St Aldate’s Church. Frog has an MTh from Oxford, is co-author of Holy Warriors, and is currently working on a London University doctorate. He is married to Amy and they have twin boys, Zachary and Elijah.

Amy Orr-Ewing is Training Director of RZIM Zacharias Trust and Director of Programmes for the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. She gained a first class degree in Theology at Christ Church, Oxford University, before receiving a Masters degree in Theology at King’s College, London. Amy has co-authored Holy Warriors: A Fresh Look at the Face of Extreme Islam and has contributed to the books God and the Generations and Worth Knowing: Wisdom for Women. Her latest book, Why Trust the Bible? (published under the title Is the Bible Intolerant? in North America) was shortlisted for the 2006 UK Christian Book Awards, and her next book But Is It Real? is forthcoming. Amy speaks and lectures on Christian Apologetics worldwide, at events such as the Keswick Convention and the European Leadership Forum, Hungary. She is married to Frog, who is a vicar in the Church of England, and they live in London with their twin boys.

Revd Professor Alister McGrath
Alister McGrath is Professor of Historical Theology at Oxford University, Senior Research Fellow at Harris Manchester College, Oxford, and President of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. He holds first class honours degrees in both Chemistry and Theology from Oxford University and was awarded an Oxford DPhil for his research in the natural sciences. Prof McGrath has written a number of important works on Reformation history and theology, and on the development prospects for Evangelicalism. His many writings include his acclaimed book on apologetics, Bridge Building, and his internationally popular Christian Theology: An Introduction. He has a special interest in atheism, especially evident in his landmark books Dawkins’ God: Genes, Memes and the Meaning of Life, The Dawkins Delusion? and The Twilight of Atheism. Alister and his wife Joanna live near Oxford.

Photo of John Lennox Dr John Lennox
Dr John Lennox is Reader in Mathematics at Oxford University, Fellow in Mathematics and the Philosophy of Science at Green College, Oxford, and Joint Director of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics (OCCA). He studied at Cambridge, from which he holds the degrees of MA and PhD, and was subsequently Reader in Pure Mathematics at the University of Wales where he was awarded a DSc degree. He also holds an MA in Bioethics. Dr Lennox is interested in the interface of Science, Philosophy and Theology and has lectured and written many articles and several books on mathematics and on Christian apologetics, particularly the Science-Religion debate. Titles include God’s Undertaker: Has Science Buried God? and Christianity: Opium or Truth? (co-authored with David Gooding). John and his wife Sally live near Oxford.

Photo of L.T. Jeyachandran L. T. Jeyachandran
L.T. Jeyachandran graduated from PSG College of Technology, affiliated with the University of Madras (Chennai), and later received a Master of Technology degree in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology. L.T. worked in India for 28 years as a Senior Civil Engineer with the Central (Federal) Government, before joining RZIM India in 1993 as Director of Ministries. He is now Executive Director of RZIM Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore, and is an Associate Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. He speaks internationally on Evangelism and Apologetics, his specialist areas of teaching being Eastern Religions and the Doctrine of the Trinity. He has contributed to the book Who Made God? (ed. Zacharias and Geisler).

Photo of Michael Green Revd Canon Dr Michael Green
Michael Green is one of the world’s leading evangelists. He was for many years a Senior Research Fellow at Wycliffe Hall where he taught Evangelism, Apologetics and New Testament Studies and also worked in setting up and teaching the Certificate in Christian Apologetics. Most recently, he has been helping to grow a start-up Anglican Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is also Director of the Good News Initiative of the Anglican Communion Network in the USA. His previous experiences include being Principal of St John’s College, Nottingham; Rector of St Aldate’s Church, Oxford; Professor of Evangelism at Regent College, Vancouver; and Advisor to the Archbishops of Canterbury and York on Evangelism. His recently published works include The Books the Church Suppressed, a repudiation of the Coptic Gospels on which the Da Vinci Code relied, I’d Like to Believe, But… and You Can’t be Serious! Michael and his wife Rosemary are based in Oxford, England.

Professor Gary Habermas
Gary R. Habermas (Ph.D., Michigan State University) is the Distinguished Research Professor and Chair of the Philosophy and Theology Department at Liberty University in Virginia, USA. He has authored, co-authored, or edited more than 30 books (including 16 on the subject of Jesus' resurrection). He has also contributed more than fifty chapters or articles to other books, along with more than 100 articles and reviews in journals and other publications. During the past ten years or so, he has been a Visiting or Adjunct Professor at about 15 different graduate schools and seminaries in the US and abroad. He and his wife Eileen have seven children and six grandchildren, all living in Lynchburg, VA.

Mark Elliott is president of HVS Hodges Ward Elliott and an elder of Dunwoody Community Church (DCC). He was formerly a board member of Scripture Union USA, a Trustee for Haggai Institute and is currently serving on the board of Flannel, the parent organization for the NOOMA video series. He regularly leads Bible classes at DCC and has spoken at a number of different churches and venues. While working for Hodges Ward Elliott, Mark has distinguished himself by personally selling more hotels than any other individual in the United States. He is a regular speaker at several business conferences and has also lectured at Harvard. In 2006, Mark was the recipient of the prestigious ‘Jack A. Shaffer Financial Advisor of the Year’ award. He has written articles for Real Estate Finance Journal, a chapter in the Hotel Investment Handbook and is quoted in the Wall Street Journal as being a hotel industry expert.
